Tara first began taking yoga as she was looking for something physical that could fill the void left when she quit dancing. After her first class she instantly knew that yoga would become much more than that. Her first class was in 2000, first at gyms then at Inner Bodyworks. The practice shaped her life in more ways than she could have imagined when she bought Inner Bodyworks in 2006. Tara’s yoga path led her to become certified yoga instructor specializing in alignment based Vinyasa yoga. Tara has culled knowledge from many wonderful and inspiring teachers. She brings that knowledge to her studio classes, workshop offerings and teacher trainings in a playful and joyful manner.
Heather McCoy, RYT-200
Heather has been studying yoga since 2007. After becoming the office manager at Inner Bodyworks she fell in love with yoga. She completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance teacher training at Inner Bodyworks Yoga Studio in 2010. She continues to learn and be inspired by Kathryn Budig, David Swenson Tiffany Cruickshank. Heather's classes weave together a strong Vinyasa practice with inspiring and challenging poses. She particularly enjoys experimenting with Acro and Partner yoga as way of keeping the practice of yoga playful and grounded in a sense of interconnectedness.
Nancy Nikkel, RYT- 200
Nancy's practice and training are grounded in Ashtanga yoga, and she delights in the rigor and dedication found in this practice. She has studied with Tiffany Cruikshank, David Swenson, Aadil Palkhivala, Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, and Acro-Yogis Jenny Sauer-Klein and Jason Nemer. She encourages her students to explore their edge with curiosity and openness, and her classes typically explore challenging and innovative poses. Beyond the physical aspects of the practice, Nancy believes in the deeper benefits of a consistent yoga practice: meditation, compassion, interconnectedness, and the joy found in every present moment.
Lara Riccomini, RYT-200
Lara was exposed to yoga as a child by her grandmother; however her personal practice didn't begin until much later. In 1999 she started yoga at 24 Hour Fitness, which led her to being one of the first students at Inner Bodyworks. Lara's first teacher training was at Sacred Movement in Venice, CA with Max Strom, Saul David Raye, Shiva Rea and Sherry Brourman in the fall of 2002. She then went on to complete additional training with Shiva Rea in February 2003. Lara has continued her trainings through various workshops with nationally and internationally recognized teachers including Tim Miller, Sharon Gannon, David Life, Max Strom, Bryan Kest, John Friend and Erich Schiffmann. Her classes emphasize proper alignment within a dynamic vinyasa flow style.
Renata Bocardo, RYT-200
Renata began teaching in 2008 at Inner Bodyworks and received her 200 Hours YRT certification in 2010. She trained in yoga for Emotional Balance with Bo Forbes: “Yoga, Mindfulness, Neuroscience, and the Body: Healing Anxiety, Depression, & Chronic Pain” at The New England School of Integrative Yoga Therapeutics (40hr) 2014. After this training, she began to feel passionate about the effects that yoga can have on people with anxiety, depression, chronic pain and, more specifically, PTSD. It is for this reason that in 2015 she took a 10 hour workshop with Bessel van der Kolk, Director of the Trauma Center at JRI and author of the book, “The Body Keeps the Score” and a 40 hour workshop with Dave Emerson and Jenn Turner in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. She is currently training with Mark Taylor to be certified as a Somatic Movement Educator and is also training at the SE Institute in Berkeley to become a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Renata sporadically teaches workshops about somatic healing, here at our studio, as well as in Mexico City for therapists and survivors of sexual abuse. All of her classes have a therapeutic focus with an emphasis on somatic movement and body awareness.
Shelly Freesemann RYT-200
Shelly, Yoga Alliance Certified yoga teacher, discovered the joys and benefits of yoga in 1998 after running began to take a toll on her flexibility. She found yoga to be the missing link in her fitness. Shelly has been teaching vinyasa flow classes at Inner Body works since the studio opened in 2000, and became certified in 2011 in Tara Delis’ first teacher training course. Shelly has a bachelor’s degree in biology from UC Berkeley and will soon hold a second degree in registered nursing. She has studied the disciplines of Ashtanga and Anusara with many reputable teachers but she has most recently been inspired by the teachings of Max Strom. Shelly teaches a dynamic and inspiring alignment-based flow that makes everyone feel welcomed and challenged.
Jen Thompson, RYT-200

Jen is know for her infectious smile and contagious laugh. Her classes are light-hearted, jovial and playful; be prepared to smile and let go of any competition or judgment and not to take yourself too seriously.
